《当你老了》是爱尔兰诗人叶芝的爱情诗选。

1865年6月13日，叶芝出生于爱尔兰山迪蒙镇。1889年1月30日，叶芝和茉德·冈尼初次邂逅，对她一见钟情，从此开始了一生了的沉迷纠葛。

“她伫立窗畔，身旁盛开着一大团苹果花；她光彩夺目，仿佛自身就是阳光……”

他们有着诗一般的初识，却未能得到一个诗意的结果。

叶芝多次向茉德求婚，却多次被拒，直到五十多岁才不得不与他人结婚。直至暮年，叶芝仍然是一个为情所困的青涩少年。

对此，茉德表示“世界会因为我没有嫁给你而心怀感激”。

1923年，凭借着诗歌的成就，叶芝获得诺贝尔文学奖。

1939年，叶芝去世，茉德连葬礼都没有参加。

他们之间的关系，就如同日月，彼此关联，却无法一同闪耀。

威廉·巴特勒·叶芝（William Butler Yeats，1865—1939），伟大的诗人和剧作家，“爱尔兰文艺复兴运动”领袖，艾比剧院创建者。

1923年，叶芝获得诺贝尔文学奖。

译者简介

罗池，原名韦政峰，翻译家，诗人，1973年生于广西柳州，1996年毕业于广西大学中文系，现居广西桂林。2000至今专事文学翻译，主攻英语现当代诗歌、短篇小说，兼译法语、荷兰语等，有大量作品发表，近年致力于詹姆斯·乔伊斯名著《芬尼根守灵夜》译释工作。

已出版译著：《格雷戈里·柯索诗选》《彼得·霍恩诗选》。
