与该书的邂逅纯属机缘巧合。我的老师李川云教授因为要远赴亚丁湾完成重要使命，临别时将本书的翻译工作交给了我。感谢他全然的信任成全了我与原著的缘分，也成全了我与世界上前沿心理学大师的偶遇与神交。
读一本大师的原著就如同与大师的心灵对话。世界上众多富有名望和经验的心理咨询师贡献出他们印象最深、得心应手、细心体察、亲历亲为的成功案例和技术成就了此书。当我开始翻译时，仿佛在聆听大师的心理咨询与授课，旁观大师的诊疗过程与方法，体会大师的理论依据与逻辑。我由衷钦佩并感恩于这些大师和前辈的开拓与奉献，正是他们的睿智，启发和诱惑着我义无返顾地走上心理助人的艰辛之路。我深知在这条路上有大师的引领是何等的幸运，他山之石是何等的珍贵，被实践检验过的方法在探索正确捷径时是何等的重要。这本心理咨询技术的集锦恰恰是为我们心理咨询师提供了便利的案头参考。其中每一个案例、每一种技术就像通往心理助人之路上的一扇窗或一扇门，推开窗户，可以听见莺莺鸟语、闻到百花芬芳；打开大门，便会获得意外惊喜、无限风光。

首先，新颖全面。书中将近几年比较前沿、有效地治疗技术都囊括其中。如果说阅读一本讲授某个流派或一种咨询方法的书是一道美味的正餐，让人裹腹也让人满足。那么这本《最受欢迎的心理咨询技术》更像是一桌精致的小点，可以满足很多味蕾的需要，却让人意犹未尽，激发人们深度探寻。
其次，重视操作性。该书并没有着墨于理论的讲授而更注重技术的传授，为从事心理咨询等助人工作的读者提供了明确的操作方法和技术，特别是对于已经具有临床经验的助人者更可以在本书中找到灵感和共鸣。引用作者的一句话：“哪一项技术治疗师使用起来比较舒适取决于每个治疗师的选择。”
最后，中正的态度。正如作者所说：“尽管本书注定是唯技术的，但我必须承认技术有其缺陷。请记住古老的医学格言：首先不要造成伤害。”作为译者我非常认同这样的态度和理念，每个来访者都是不一样的个体，而技术一定不是普适的，即使是一些非常成熟的治疗技术也是如此。倾听、理解和共感依然是非常重要的疗效因子。我们要做的是选择那些与我们自己的治疗信念、治疗风格相融合的技术，更好地服务于我们的来访者。
