互联网企业的在线平台衍生出的金融属性，除了将流量变现，发挥平台销售渠道的作用外，也从另一个意义上构成了对银行“代销”角色的威胁。在传统的理财和基金产品的销售渠道中，除了基金和券商、信托的自由渠道，绝大部分是通过银行的产品销售渠道实现的，产品研发方不仅掌握不了前端客户，还需要给银行较高比例的销售费用，部分产品的销售返佣甚至高达50％，严重影响了利润空间，也间接养肥了银行的中间业务，助长了银行的渠道垄断地位。
