Author Description

闻一多（1899—1946），原名闻家骅，字友三，湖北浠水人，现代著名诗人、学者，民主战士。1912年，考入北京清华学校。求学期间开始发表作品，并于1921年11月与梁实秋等人发起成立清华文学社。1922年7月，赴美留学，先后在芝加哥美术学院、珂泉科罗拉多学院美术系和纽约美术学生联合会接受西洋美术教育。1925年回国后，先后任教于国立第四中山大学（1928年更名为中央大学，1949年更名为南京大学）、国立武汉大学（任文学院首任院长）、国立青岛大学（现山东大学）、北京艺术专科学校、政治大学、清华大学。

罗庸（1900—1950），字膺中、号习坎，蒙古族，原籍江苏江都，罗聘（扬州八怪之一）的后人。生于北京，1917年考入学北京大学。1924年毕业后，在教育部任职，同时在北大、北师大等学校兼课。1927年秋应鲁迅之邀，到广州中山大学中文系任教；1931年到浙江大学；1932年起回北大任教。抗日战争中在西南联大，曾任联大中文系系主任。联大结束后任教于昆明师范学院；1949年赴重庆，到梁漱溟创办的勉仁文学院任教。1950年病逝于北碚。

浦江清（1904—1957），著名古典文学研究专家。1922年，入东南大学文理科学习，主修西洋文学，辅修国文与哲学。1926年，经吴宓推荐，到清华国学研究院任陈寅恪助教，研究西方的“东方学”文献，精通多门外语。1929年转入清华大学文学院中国文学系。1938年任西南联合大学中文系教授。1946年回北平清华大学，1952年院系调整，调任北京大学中文系教授，1957年病逝。浦江清教中国文学史达30年，桃李满天下。

《西南联大“中国文学史”讲堂录（套装共4册）》：
四、古代的音乐与诗
中国古代的音乐和诗的关系非常密切。据史传所记，它还有地域性的特点，如秦国的缶当时就很有名。秦用雅声，周也是雅声，所以周乐也该是用缶作为主乐。缶，就是一种土鼓，原用来做饭，翻倒过来便成为乐器。相传它是由夏代遗留下来的。《诗经》的演唱当是以缶为主，其他伴奏的还有筝、竽、笙等类。
郑卫之乐常用弦索与竹管。凡是以鼓为节的配乐诗多是齐言，而配管弦的诗则以长短句为多。从舞容方面也可推定当时乐与诗的关系，再就当时有关评语，同样可以了解乐与诗的概貌。
《诗经》的颂、雅、南、风，可代表诗的四个发展时期，其中以颂为最古。颂，就是容；雅，豫也，豫就是象；象也就是容，所以说雅、颂是相通的。如《诗经》的《鲁颂》《商颂》虽名为颂，其实是雅，因为它们写作时代较晚的缘故。雅颂一类作品，多用于集团生活之间，而南便是由集体到个人的过渡，它与雅相近；再进一步就成为风，变成纯粹个人的诗了。
