清宫帝后生活，永远充满神秘。遥想紫禁城的日常，鲁迅先生的笑话*有代表性：

是大热天的正午，一个农妇做事做得正苦，忽而叹道：“皇后娘娘真不知道多么快活。这时还不是在床上睡午觉，醒过来的时候，就叫道：‘太监，拿个柿饼来！’”
（鲁迅《“人话”》）

皇后娘娘当然不吃柿饼。
于是，我们只能通过荧幕上越来越多的不靠谱和更不靠谱的清宫影视剧来想象宫廷生活，于是更多的误会产生了。
比如，其实宫女们是不能抡手绢的。
比如，皇上驾到的时候是从来不喊“皇上驾到”的。

清宫文物专家朱家溍先生曾经为电影《垂帘听政》《火烧圆明园》等做顾问，当时他曾向导演提出，刘晓庆扮演的懿贵妃（即后来的慈禧太后）不应该在皇帝面前边跑边唱《艳阳天》，因为宫里的嫔妃是不可能知道这些小曲的。不过，导演显然一笑了之— —影视剧作品更关心的是剧情冲突，而为此可以牺牲的东西，实在太多了。

真正的后宫生活，其实远比我们想象的无聊。

一日两餐，吃来吃去都是份例里的那些东西；皇上要到下午才有空找娘娘们玩耍，玩的也不过是纸牌投壶看戏；五点吃晚点心，之后要礼佛，没电视看没电脑玩，八点就要上床睡觉——并没有传说中脱光了被太监扛进寝宫这样的香艳情节。事实上，侍寝的人选在中午正餐时，就被翻牌决定了。嫔妃们会在寝宫旁边的围房暂住，并不能像电视剧里一样整晚都陪伴着皇帝——皇帝真正入睡时，只有随侍太监能留在身边。
然而，这也比我们想象的有趣。
我在采访中，曾经和苑洪琪老师讨论过一件乾隆时期的银餐具，专家们把这叫“鸭池”。这个带盖的盘子下面有两个酒精碗，盖子钮的造型是一只鸭子，盘子的大小刚好能放下一只鸭子，非常精致。可是，没有人说得清楚，这个东西究竟是怎么用的。苑老师为了弄清楚这个问题，前前后后买了四次鸭子，用和鸭池酒精杯容量一样的酒精来煮，*次没熟，第二次汤不好喝，第三次肉有点柴，到了第四次，才终于成功。
这半年里，这样的实验，有很多很多。我们尝到了用宫里配方做出的酸梅汤、普洱茶、好看却并没有那么好吃的苹果馒头，还有宫廷烟熏鸡腿……我们也翻阅了大量膳底单和造办处档案，希望能够接近、更接近一点历史的真实。毕竟，我们不希望大家真的认为，清宫里的娘娘们，动不动就因食用夹竹桃做的点心或掺了芭蕉的糕点而滑胎。皇帝也不可能今天到这个妃子这里喝豆浆，明福天去那个娘娘那里吃藕粉桂花糖糕，皇上总是一个人吃饭。
这本书得到了故宫紫禁书院的大力配合，也得到了苑洪琪老师等故宫资深顾问的支持和帮助，这是福桃和故宫的*次合作，我能保证，这只是一个开始，好戏还在后头。
